The SMU KID Lab
(Kids In Development)

We study how young kids grow and learn! We focus on young children's cognitive and language development, with special interest in technology and digital media. Our goal is to understand the pathways that lead to successful development of all individuals. We specifically aim to:

• understand how children learn new words and categories

• determine the contexts that best support learning and development in children and adults

• identify the factors that promote language growth and factors that put a child at risk for language delay

• measure how individual biases and experiences alter learning (for better or worse)
